Lacetown Murder Mysteries: Case One

A killer at a small-town literary festival. Bumbling drug dealers. A kidnapped cat. Starting a romance among all this chaos might be the death of them.

Michael Fleishman is excited to meet his favorite mystery writer, Russell Withingham, at Lacetown’s Literary Fest. He is not expecting to cross paths with sexy hairdresser Jasper “Jazz” Dilworth—or become embroiled in a real-life mystery. As Lacetown’s only mortician and the county coroner, Michael is called to his first murder scene and is shocked to recognize the victim—Russell’s young lover.

Jazz only wanted to confront his ex, Russell, over his cheating. Instead, he meets the adorably awkward Michael and becomes a murder suspect. Soon Jazz is teaming up with Michael to clear his name. Along the way, they are helped and hindered by Michael’s sassy assistant, Kitty, the grumpy Sheriff Musgrave, Russell’s creepy PR rep, Norbert, and Michael’s lothario grandfather, who likes his manhattans strong and his women saucy. And of course, Mr. Pickles Furryton the Third….

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. She has served multiple board positions at her local RWA chapter and is the current President 2017 for Rainbow Romance Writers of America. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.

Title: Flipped
Author: K. Sterling
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: April 30, 2019

It’s Roan O’Shea’s world and we’re just here for the ride. And what a ride it is…

After a lifetime of living in fear (and by other people’s rules), Roan’s determined to use his ill-gotten talents and money to turn the quaint, quiet town of Sanctuary Mills into his own little slice of heaven. Living under the alias Flynn Gallagher, Roan is on a mission to undo the evil of his past, and win the hearts of his new neighbors, by spreading his own brand of joy and light. But, just when Roan thinks he’s pulled off the ultimate con, an FBI agent, a murder, and a mystery threaten to expose his past and his intricate web of identities and secrets.

It takes a special breed of criminal, and a massive set of steel-plated testicles, to pull off a Ponzi scheme targeting organized crime’s heaviest hitters. Agent Sherman Mathis has spent months hunting for Cillian McGregor, and every lead has been a dead end. Except Flynn Gallagher. The jet-setting wine enthusiast and blogger is the only victim of McGregor’s baffling scam who isn’t dead, in jail, or slammed a door in Sherman’s face, but he’s not the perfect source our agent was hoping for, once they finally meet. Sherman’s hopes for a lead vanish immediately and he begins to suspect Flynn is hiding something deeper and bigger than McGregor.

A small town like Sanctuary Mills should be child’s play for a master strategist and showman like Roan, but he learns the stakes are higher when his heart starts calling the shots. This time, he’s got his sights set on the ultimate prize and Roan won’t rest until he’s won Sherman’s trust, and his heart. He’s just got to solve a murder, come clean, and flip a Federal Agent.
*Flipped is a sequel to Snatched and can be read alone but will contain many Snatched spoilers!
â€œWow.” Sherman whistled as he passed Gallagher’s house then parked in the driveway across the street to be discreet. “Is he having a party?” He wondered as he got out and pretended to check his phone as he lingered in the neighbor’s driveway. Lights flashed from the upstairs windows and music swelled from Gallagher’s house. Sherman glanced at the house behind him but all the lights were off and there wasn’t another house for miles so he hurried to the end of the drive then dashed across the street. He ducked behind Gallagher’s Mercedes then made his way around a stunning silver vintage Jaguar E-Type. There was a blood-curdling shriek from inside the house and Sherman turned and ducked then sprinted along the rose bushes as he made his way to the stone path to the front door and up the porch steps. There was another shriek and Sherman was sure it was a woman as he pressed his shoulder against the door and listened. The music was electric and grinding and the beat slammed in time with Sherman’s heartbeat.
â€œNooooo!” She wailed before there was a deafening Pop! Then Pop! Pop! and Sherman gasped as he checked the handle. The door swung open and Sherman cautiously leaned over the threshold.
â€œHello?” He called but it didn’t carry over the music as he stepped into the foyer. The flashing lights and music were coming from upstairs and he couldn’t see anyone but he pulled his gun from his holster as he made his way toward the steps. The house was bright and modern but elegant, like an expensive hotel suite. Sherman climbed the clear, winding staircase, past a massive Venetian glass chandelier that looked like rain then took a quick glance at the hall to make sure it was clear. It was empty and the double doors at the end were open. The music became more frenetic and Sherman’s pulse raced as he rushed toward the doors with his gun ready. He reached the bedroom and heard a loud sob as he leaned to take a quick look around the door. A second woman moaned from the direction of the bed and Sherman froze as he stared. Gallagher was being ridden by two stunning women. A black woman with long blue hair was grinding on Gallagher’s face as she kissed and fondled the curvy redhead bouncing on his cock. Neither were armed or appeared to have been shot. Sherman realized the threesome was being projected onto the wall behind the bed just as hard, sweet fumes hit his nose and his eyes burned and rolled.
â€œYou should have rung the doorbell!” Gallagher sang in Sherman’s ear as something soft was pressed against his face. Sherman felt very drunk and too light as his legs buckled before the world turned into bright colors then faded.
â€œSchnostopitdit!” Sherman spluttered as his head snapped up and he was heavy and nauseous as his eyes rolled hard.
â€œWelcome back, Sleeping Beauty,” a warm, smooth voice drawled and it smelled like whiskey and cinnamon but Sherman didn’t like the way it echoed and how sour his stomach felt. “Come on. Wake up,” he said before he slapped Sherman’s cheek. It made Sherman’s head vibrate but he couldn’t feel his face.
â€œWhaaaaat…dyooooudooo?” He slurred as he pulled with his upper body but his arms were caught behind his back. Sherman tugged as his eyes fought to focus and they crossed as they watered but he could make out a face with dark hair and a beard. “Gallllllaghaaaaah,” he struggled and there was a soft laugh as Sherman shook his head to clear it but it just made his stomach heave.
â€œUh oh… Need a bucket?” Gallagher asked and Sherman grunted as he shook his head a little less aggressively and took a deep breath. He beat back the waves of nausea and the room became clearer around him then squirmed as Gallagher leaned in closer until they were nearly nose to nose. “You know who I am but who are you? A shitty hitman or a lousy cop?” He asked and Sherman was still dizzy and a little floaty but Gallagher’s soft green eyes were just as intoxicating as the ether as they searched his. They were teasing and too clever as Gallagher waited for Sherman to recover.
â€œCop,” he pushed out and Gallagher hummed thoughtfully.
â€œYou move like a cop but I didn’t see a badge or any credentials,” he said and Sherman groaned as his shoulder started to ache.
â€œCar. Visor,” he said and Gallagher’s lips pulled into a wide grin. It was full of laughter and his eyes were hypnotizing and Sherman was very aware of how good Gallagher smelled and that he was only wearing a pair of jeans.
â€œDon’t go anywhere,” he ordered as he stood and Sherman snorted.
â€œI’ll wait here,” he managed before Gallagher gave his hair a playful ruffle, making Sherman’s ears ring as everything swayed around him. He was handcuffed and slouched against the bedroom door. The music was off and just the lamps were on but Gallagher’s movie was still playing. Sherman squinted at the wall until he could see who was doing what and his eyes widened as his head tilted. Gallagher was in the middle and the redhead was wearing a strap-on.
â€œGod, I had so much fun in Amsterdam,” Gallagher said as he wandered back into the room. He was flipping through Sherman’s cards and his wallet was tucked under his arm. “Agent Sherman Mathis,” he announced then cleared his throat. “Of the FBI,” he added solemnly then snorted. “I don’t know who sent you but I can pay you way more if you skip the bullshit and start talking now.” He tossed Sherman’s wallet and cards between his legs then squatted in front of him. Sherman’s face scrunched as he kept his gaze on Gallagher’s chin, he couldn’t think if he stared at his eyes.
â€œThe Bureau sent me,” he stated and Gallagher sighed as he shook his head.
â€œAnd you came in here like that? Knowing I could be armed and dangerous?” He replied dubiously and Sherman frowned at him.
â€œI didn’t have any reason to believe anyone would be armed and dangerous until I heard a woman screaming and gunshots. Why would you be armed and dangerous?” He asked and Gallagher’s eyes narrowed.
â€œWhy have you been following me?” He demanded and Sherman’s face fell.
â€œYou knew?” He asked and Gallagher smirked.
â€œYou really are with the Bureau,” he said then dropped to his knees so he could shove his hand into his pocket. He retrieved a key then smiled sheepishly as he gestured for Sherman to turn around. Sherman scooted and twisted so Gallagher could unlock the handcuffs. “Sorry. I thought you were harmless until you followed me out of the airport. Then, you turned up in Sanctuary Mills and parked your shitty rental car across the street. I was sure you were here to kill me,” he explained and Sherman grunted in relief when the cuffs loosened and he was able to stretch and rotate his shoulders.
â€œWhy would someone want to kill you?” He asked and Gallagher shushed him.
â€œYou haven’t told me why you broke into my house. Unless you have a warrant somewhere,” he returned and Sherman’s head cocked forward.
â€œThe door was practically open and you made me think a woman was getting murdered,” he replied and Gallagher waved it off.
â€œGet past that. You’ve been following me for weeks. Why?” He insisted and Sherman felt a little irritated but mostly confused.
â€œHow did you know and what do you mean I’m really with the Bureau?” He asked and Gallagher chuckled as he dropped onto his ass and pulled up his knees so he could rest his arms on them. He was boyish and there was a cocky kick at the corner of his lips that made Sherman anxious.
â€œI look at a man like you and think ‘Not my father but I certainly wouldn’t mind pretending for a few nights.’ It’s going to take more than a baseball cap or glasses for you to slip past my radar the second and third time and that mustache and beard is like offering free Wi-Fi. You’re just asking me to sit there,” Gallagher said as he pointed at Sherman’s face. Sherman coughed as heat crept up his neck then shifted and pulled his knees up but it just made his jeans pinch in the worst places.
â€œCould we try the ether again?” He muttered and Gallagher laughed as he leaned forward and offered his hand.
â€œCall me Flynn. Why are you here, Agent Mathis?”
â€œYou can call me Sherman. Since I’ve seen your best work,” he said as he swung his chin at the bed and Flynn shook his head.
â€œThat wasn’t my best work. That was just a Tuesday,” he stated dismissively and rolled his hand so Sherman would continue. He pushed out a hard breath as he scooped up his cards then fixed his wallet.
â€œI’m investigating Cillian McGregor and you’re the only living client of his who isn’t in jail or hasn’t refused to cooperate,” he explained and Flynn’s eyes went wide as his mouth pulled into an O.
â€œOooooook. You’re here about McGregor,” he said slowly then hopped to his feet. “I hate to disappoint you but I stopped doing business with him years ago,” Flynn added briskly as he offered Sherman a hand. He pulled him to his feet then hissed as he gave his arm a firm squeeze. “I’m sorry you’ve wasted so much time and so many clever disguises,” he said as he steered him out of the bedroom and Sherman shook his head.
â€œI know. You’re one of the few investors who was able to recover your money and it sat until you bought that place on Crawford. Why did you give that woman the house?” He asked and Flynn paused before he turned to Sherman.
â€œYou know about the house?” He asked and Sherman nodded.
â€œI was hoping you’d be able to help me find McGregor so I researched you as a source,” he admitted. Flynn told him to cut out the bullshit and any dreams Sherman had that he’d be a lead were quickly evaporating. Flynn nodded along as he guided him down the hall. Sherman stopped him. “Why did you give her the house?” He repeated and Flynn shrugged but there was a spark of something fierce in his eyes when Sherman was finally brave enough to meet them.
â€œBecause she needed it the most and I knew she’d do the most with it,” he said simply then ducked his head. “I’m sorry you wasted so much of your time. I might have a few old emails but you probably have the same phone numbers I do, if I even have any left on my contacts list,” he stated as he skipped down the steps and Sherman groaned as he followed.
â€œHow did you meet him?” He asked.
â€œI can’t remember how, exactly. Everyone was giving him their money and I went in but I didn’t like him, once we met, so I backed out,” Flynn stated then shook his head. “The whole thing rubbed me the wrong way.”
â€œWhy?” Sherman asked then braced his hand on the door before Flynn could pull it open. “What about him rubbed you the wrong way? Do you know anyone who’s heard from him recently?” He asked but Flynn wasn’t appreciating how desperate he was.
â€œGod, it was so long ago. It was a lifetime away,” Flynn said firmly then held up a finger. “Can I ask? Why do you care this much? McGregor scammed gangsters and lowlifes,” he said and Sherman raised a brow at him.
â€œAnd you,” he pointed out and Flynn laughed as he patted Sherman on the chest then stopped so his fingers could press into his pec.
â€œVery nice, agent,” he observed then shook his head before he slid Sherman a rakish grin. “Trust me, I’m the last person you should worry about. I’m doing just fine,” he said then stared at Sherman as he waited for him to let go of the door. Sherman stared back and Flynn’s smile became wolfish as he stepped closer. “Unless there’s something else you’d like to…discuss,” he offered and Flynn’s eyes became deep and mesmerizing again before they slid down Sherman’s chest. Sherman’s body became warm and tight as he held still and waited for Flynn’s eyes to return to his. Sherman decided to call his bluff. He angled his head so their lips nearly touched. Flynn pulled in a deep breath and his chest pressed against Sherman’s as the air became hot and electric around them.
â€œWhy would someone want to kill you and why would I assume you’re armed and dangerous? And why do you keep that much ether on hand?” Sherman murmured. He was spellbound as Flynn laughed softly and Sherman suppressed a shiver as he felt it against his lips. This was why they were willing to risk it all for him.
â€œI’ve been a bad boy, Sherman,” Flynn whispered and the taste of his breath made Sherman restless and hungry. “And ether’s a lot more fun in the bedroom than guns. Want to go back upstairs so you can try it out on me?” He suggested and Sherman’s head pulled back and his eyes flicked to the ceiling.
â€œI’ll pass. That’s really dark,” he scolded and Flynn shrugged.
â€œJust throwing stuff out there to see what you like. I’m very openminded,” he said but Sherman blinked back at him.
â€œI’m not that kind of guy,” he said and Flynn hummed seductively as he leaned back and eyed him over.
â€œNot that kind of guy or not that kind of gay?” He challenged and Sherman snorted.
â€œBoth,” he replied and Flynn made a sympathetic sound as he patted Sherman’s chest again.
â€œDon’t sell yourself short,” he said and Sherman shook his head.
â€œI’m not selling myself short,” he stated and Flynn hissed as he nodded but he stepped back, as if he was retreating.
â€œA man who knows what he’s worth. I like that,” he said then waved at the door. “Lock that behind you. I’ve had a long day and I’m not in the mood for questions unless you’d like to ask them in the shower or while you’re drilling me,” he added as he turned and headed for the staircase. Sherman’s teeth dug into his lip as he watched Flynn unzip his jeans as he climbed.
â€œWould you actually answer them?” He called after Flynn and heard him laugh. It was light and made Sherman’s stomach tickle.

â€œNo but it might be fun if you tried to make me,” Flynn replied and the waist of his jeans pulled lower as he reached the last few steps, revealing the crack of his ass and the swells of his cheeks. “I’ll see you later, agent,” he said and it faded as he turned the corner. Sherman leaned and stretched as he watched him go then shook his head. Flynn Gallagher was irresistible and inconceivably sexy up close and in person, but he was too fast and too reckless and too far beyond Sherman’s league or sexual comprehension. And Sherman just wasn’t doing that again. Especially with someone like Gallagher.

Genre: Urban Fantasy (New Adult)
Release Date: April 16, 2019

Being left to lead the fae alongside an annoyingly charming partner really screws with your life.

Skylar Chen just received the promotion of an eternity. After Tristan and Aurora trade their esteemed status for mundane life, it’s now her responsibility to lead the fae.

The catch? She has to work with Nikolai Sterling. With his constant smirks and dangerous good looks, he has a way of getting under Skylar’s skin like no one else. Even still, she’d much rather be getting under him.

Sexual tension aside, they have a bigger issue to deal with. The Experiment, a human organization built on hatred toward the fae, threatens to wipe them from existence. It’s time for Skylar and Nikolai to recruit allies, bring the fae together, and prepare for battle.

Fighting to protect her people is something Skylar can manage. It’s the skeletons in her designer closet that make opening up to Nikolai where she’s suddenly out of her element.

In this finale novella, the beloved side characters from Twisted Fate and Twisted Gift take center stage to bring down the organization set on destroying them.
“I got you something,” Nikolai says once we’re back in our hotel room.

I suppose it went without saying that Allison and I were swapping roommates
because Oliver followed her into the other room without a word.

I arch a brow at him, shrugging off my jacket and draping it over the armchair
beside the window. “What? Why?”

He shrugs, setting down the groceries we grabbed on the way back from the
meeting. “I thought it would cheer you up.”

“Oh,” is all I say. I told the group on the drive back that Jackson removed himself
from the fight, leaving out the part about him telling me to call him if things didn’t “work
out” between Nikolai and me. Nikolai must’ve told Jackson something, but I’ll be
damned if I bring it up to him.

Nikolai reaches into one of the bags and pulls out the same bottle of rosĂŠ I tasted
at Jackson’s. Hold on. The bottle has been opened. He stole the bottle from Jackson’s
bar. Smooth bastard.

A grin pulls at my lips as I take the bottle from him. “You—”

“Are amazing? Yeah, I know,” he says with a wink, leaning in slowly. “Skylar?”

“What?” I mutter.

“Kiss me,” he whispers back.

I set the bottle down. “Do I have to?” I feign disinterest even as my pulse ticks
faster with excitement.

His grin is still fully in place, his eyes filled with amusement. “No, but you want
to,” he lowers his voice, “almost as much as I do.”

“Mmm,” I hum, closing the rest of the space between us in a single breath before
our lips crash together, making me feel as if I could happily live in this moment forever.

Maybe that’s why I can admit to enjoying what it feels like when we kiss. When our lips
are locked, he can’t talk.

In counterpoint, she has observed a woman stop her vehicle in severe, snowy weather to offer her own winter coat to a stranger, a teenager wearing a threadbare hoodie. Life’s diversities are endless.

In reading, take pleasure in a mental pause as you root for your favorite hero/heroine and bask in their accomplishments, then share your opinions of them over a coffee with your best friend (even if he’s four-legged). Life is short. Cherish your time.

Rule number one for a professional matchmaker?

Don’t fall in love with your client.

I screwed that up when I fell for my best friend, Reid Fortino. He’s gorgeous, successful, and sexy as hell. I figured it would be easy to find him a match—and save the family business at the same time.

But the more time I spend attempting to find the perfect girl, the more I realize how much I want him for my own. What’s the harm if we give in for just one night?

I should have known that would never be enough.

Now I’m on the verge of losing my job and my heart.

We were an imperfect match from the start, but I don’t know how to let him go.

Excerpt:

What would it be like to have her that way? Skin to skin? Breathless and begging? My body inside hers?

I want answers, I think as I open the door to our building.

No, I need them.

I take the elevator up to our floor and go right to her apartment. Using the key she gave me, I unlock her door, smiling that she still hasn’t changed the lock, and head inside.

“Reid?” She jumps off the couch and I freeze.

Jesus, she’s fucking beautiful. I’ve seen her a million times like this, but I don’t know what it is—I can’t breathe.

Her hair is piled up on top of her head in some sort of nest, the glasses that she swears she doesn’t need are on, and her legs … God, her legs. Long, sweet, slender … they would look perfect around my neck.

“What are you doing here? If this is about …” She stops talking and looks at me, her eyes full of confusion as I watch her chest rise and fall.

I walk toward her, unable to stand still. My hands grip her cheeks, and I pull her mouth to mine. Her gasp is swallowed by the searing kiss. Her fingers wrap around my wrists and I don’t know if she’s trying to stop me, but I’m going to keep going until she does.

Yet she never does. Instead of pushing me away, her hands move to my hips.

Willow kisses me back.

She kisses me like this is the only option.

She kisses me harder and more passionately than the last time.

She gives as much as she takes and I fucking revel in it.

This is crazy, but I don’t care. It’s right. It’s everything that finally makes sense. I wondered what it would be like and now I know—it’s fucking perfect.

“Reid.” She says my name and then pulls my mouth back to hers.

I kiss her, loving how our mouths fit and the way her tongue feels against mine.

“Tell me to stop.” I give her an out that I pray she won’t take.

“What?”

“Tell me now, Wills.”

I’m desperate for her. Seeing her tonight, knowing she was spying on me, did something to my heart that I can’t explain. It was the answer to the question that neither of us was willing to face.

There’s something here.

Maybe it’s new. Maybe it’s always been there but we didn’t see it. Maybe Willow and I needed to be pushed. Whatever the reason, the outcome is this.

She touches my face. Her fingertips are soft, and she moves her thumb to my lip. “I can’t. I don’t know what’s happening, but I don’t want it to stop.”

“Good, because I don’t think I could.”

My mouth is back to hers the second the words are out.

She giggles against my lips and I drink it in. Everything about Willow is sweet. Her mouth, her laughter, her heart. They all make her irresistible. I don’t know how I never saw it.

I break the kiss and scoop her into my arms, bringing her back to the bedroom. She doesn’t say anything, and I’m glad for it.

We’re both always in our heads and I’m very much ready to be in her instead.

I lay her down and crawl over her, loving how she looks at me with lust-filled eyes. “Tell me what you want, Wills.” She shakes her head and I know what she’s doing, but I’m not having it. “Don’t think, baby, just tell me.”

Her lids fall, closing me off to what she doesn’t want me to see, and I take a beat to really look at her. Lips swollen, shirt falling off her shoulder, hair fanning out on the bed. She looks like an angel.

“I want you to kiss me,” she whispers.

Vengeful Eyes by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune
Genre: Dark. Erotic Romance

Synopsis:
“You play nice tonight.”
That’s what I said to her as we walked into the restaurant.
Hope Winters never failed me.  She was anything and everything I needed her to be. A dangerous woman. Perfect. Effective. Mine.
The deal should have been simple – mutually beneficial to both parties: Cane and Vico.  An alliance. But then blood, bullets, and death began surrounding me, opening cage doors I’d closed down. That doesn’t happen in my city, not unless I order it. Someone’s to blame.
And no one lies to me and survives.
Not even Hope.
“Maybe you’re worth it.”
Words I’ve longed to hear. After all this time, I was almost there. My perfectly crafted mission was nearly done . Years of scheming and seducing and it was all within my grasp.
But I allowed myself to be distracted by him and didn’t see the threat until it was too late. Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan. Hell, love was a foreign concept to me, but it changed everything, and now I’m in too deep with a man more dangerous than anyone I’ve met.  Benjamin Vico asked me for two things, and instead, I brought vengeance to his door.  If there is one thing he’ll never accept, it’s treachery and deceit.
And I’ve committed both.
Revenge. Blame. Dark. Erotic. Romance.
